Lake Highlands Apartment Buildings

Lake Highlands makes up most of northeast Dallas, bordering Richardson to the north, Garland to the east, White Rock Lake and East Dallas to the south, and Lakewood and North Dallas to the west. The terrain has hills and valleys, with street elevations varying by as much as 50 feet. Most of the area was developed in the late twentieth century, and it holds more than 875 acres of parks and 26 miles of trails.

White Rock Lake forms the southern edge. Built between 1910 and 1911 in response to a water shortage, it covers 1,254 acres with a maximum storage capacity of 39,400 acre-feet and is owned and operated by the City of Dallas; a 9.33-mile trail runs around it for walking, running and cycling. Harry S. Moss Park, 284.1 acres at 8000 Greenville Avenue, was established in 1972 and includes an off-road cycling trail of 5.46 miles across eight connected loops running along White Rock Creek.

Dallas College Richland Campus was established in 1972 on what had been the Jackson farm. It occupies 155 acres, including Thunderduck Lake, and is the largest campus in the Dallas College system. Most of Lake Highlands is served by the Richardson Independent School District rather than Dallas ISD; Lake Highlands High School was established in 1960, and its current campus on Church Road opened in 1964.

Lake Highlands Station, at 9393 Whistle Stop Place near Walnut Hill Lane and White Rock Trail, opened in December 2010 and is served by the Blue Line. The Skillman Corridor TIF District, created in October 2005, covers 882 acres along Skillman Street.
